Hello Morgan, I found your First paragraph touching and powerful. Thank you for the link.

Morgan, this was like a warm blanket for the nervous system—thank you.

Your analogy about the self-help buffet completely landed. I’ve definitely found myself spiritually hangry at the personal growth Cheesecake Factory menu more times than I care to admit. So many systems. So many steps. So little actual kindness toward ourselves in the process.

The reminder that self-compassion isn’t about fixing the pain—but sitting beside it with a snack and a soft voice—is one I needed today. And the part about “backdraft”? Yep. Been there. Sometimes my inner critic throws a full-on jazz-hands tantrum the moment I try to be kind to myself.

Also, your love for #5 (kind touch) is contagious. I'm now sitting here with a hand on my heart like I’m about to pledge allegiance to my own humanity—and honestly, not mad about it.

Beautiful work. I’ll be back for more.

Warmly,

Matt

Well thank you! And now I will never place a hand on my own heart without thinking that "I'm about to pledge allegiance to my own humanity" -- I LOVE that. ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for breaking down the practical steps to self compassion. And I agree about mindfulness needing to have some warmth to it. Have you read Pema Chodron? or Thich Nhat Hanh.?

Oh yes, definitely! Especially Pema Chodron - she has a special place in my heart!
